On the first Shabbat of every month, Rabbi Naftali Citron will lead a meditation service upstairs at the Carlebach Shul from 9am - 11am, followed by a bagels and lox kiddush. The meditation is based on both Chassidic and Kabbalistic contemplative traditions and uses the traditional siddur as a spring board to attain higher levels of consciousness.
SHABBAT WITH YEHUDA GREEN

Born to a prominent Chassidic family in Jerusalem, Yehuda Green received his first exposure to the music of Reb Shlomo Carlebach at the age of five. Yehuda immediately connected with Shlomo's sincere --almost spiritual, soulfulness on a truly "organic" level. Rather than imitate it, his youthful innocence and exuberance enabled him to "absorb" its essence into his "musical DNA" and ultimately into his signature style.
Two decades later in New Hill England, Yehuda had the privilege to share the stage with his "rebbe" (to this day Yehuda describes himself as a "talmid (student) of Rav Shlomo".) That night evolved into a relationship that became the musical equivalent of "the passing of the torch". Despite his perpetually busy performance schedule, Shlomo made it a point to join Yehuda at least three times a year in Israel for standing room only performances that became "the hottest ticket in town"--regardless of who else happened to be in town.
Those now legendary performances led to an inevitable invitation to The Carlebach Shul, where Yehuda's honest, earthy style immediately set him apart from the countless singers who incorporate interpretations of Shlomo into their performances. Like Shlomo, the honesty of Yehuda's music and davening unites our people as only our almost universal love of song can. Regardless if its an intimate kumsitz, a sold out concert, or a standing-room only Kabbalat Shabbat service, Yehuda's style evokes an emotionally response that few if any can match. Or, as he describes it--with a level of modesty that invariably brings his "mentor" to mind; "Music is about honesty--not affectation...since childhood my music and singing just naturally went in Shlomo's direction...it's that "emes" that connects with the kahal and Baruch Hashem lets them respond on a much deeper level."
The Carlebach Shul is pleased to have Yehuda Green lead our Shabbat davening twice per month. Watch this space or join our email list for updates.

IN ORDER TO BETTER SERVE YOU
.
The Carlebach Shul's Shabbos/Yom Tov meal reservations policy:
The Carlebach Shul strives to provide a beautiful experience for everyone participating in our meals on Shabbat or Yom Tov. In order to plan meals in an effective manner, avoid substantial price increases, and provide needed information to our staff and caterer in a timely fashion, we seek the cooperation of our friends and guests.
Meal discounts are available (on most occasions) for those who reserve (and pay) online at least three (3) days in advance of the meal. This means (for example) that paid reservations made by no later than Tuesday night for a Shabbos meal will receive the discount. Those who reserve later are welcome , but we cannot offer a price reduction. All reservations for meals must be made, however, no later than by noon the day before the meal (Thursday reservations for Shabbos meals), if room still is available. Online reservation capability will be removed from our website on Thursday afternoon, and phone reservation requests cannot be accepted on Thursday evenings or Friday. Our food order will be given to the caterer on Thursday afternoon.
Knowing (at a reasonable time) the number of guests we expect will greatly enhance our ability to serve you better and will protect us from passing increases in cost that we are experiencing along to you for as long as possible. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated. |
